April Spring Fling Project kit Instructions

I had SO much fun with this kit. The album itself is so small, but just perfect size to complete in an afternoon! On thing I like to do when creating albums this small is to use a "template" as far as how I lay each page out. It keeps the album simple and it makes it easy and fast too. By template I mean, each page follows the same design. Embellishments may vary to give the page personality, but the papers are laid out basically the same, to keep it simple. This book really is fast, I finish mine in an afternoon, and even had time to take step outs during the process.

Well let's get started!  I will show you how to create the cover and then three inside pages. Since the pages follow the same template, I thought it would be fun to show you three different versions!

have fun and can't wait to see your version of it on our flickr group website!

1. The first step is to ink the front and back cover of our chipboard. That is ONLY if you want it inked. I think plain chipboard is so hot right now, it would be cute plain too!  If you noticed i got really into the edges and got ink on the rings, but those are easily wiped off, or you can let it dry for a fun edgy effect.

2. Next is to adhere floral paper to the cover . THE EASIEST way to do this (and I wish I would have taken a picture.. but if you look down at the next section you can kind of see what I mean).. but the easiest way for me it to cut a square/rectangle  piece of paper, just slightly larger than the actual surface i want to cover. I adhere glue to the entire surface of my chipboard, then I place the paper onto, making sure it hangs over on all side. Then I take my scissors (and if you are talented enough, you can use an exacto knife.. I AM NOT LOL).. so i use scissors. But then just simply cut the paper away following the scallop shape.

3. I just wanted to show you that throughout this book I used decorative scissors on my paper strips through the book. But for this next step, you want to cute about a 1" strip of yellow floral paper, slightly shorter than the length of the album.

4. Next place the strip onto of the album as show.

5. The next thing we are going to do is use the hand stamp tag from your kit (thanks to my husband Ben for stamping each of those for us). I use my trimmer to cut about 1/4" or so off the top.

6. Next step is the adhere the tag on top of the other layers you already have.

7. Then CUT! and you have all pieces following the scallop of the album.

8. Next I wanted to add a little rubon details, so I used this butterfly/heart shaped border and rubbed it onto the upper left hand corner of the tag.

9. I actually did this tag two different ways at the end, couldn't decide which one I like best, so I thought I would show you two. This first is to use one of the pre-made chipboard glitter flowers and place it on the upper right hand corner of the chipboard.

10. Next place one of the prima flowers on top of the chipboard, along with the cut little ribbon flower for the center.

11. This is the second version I did. I used one of the Bazzill chipboard flourishes. First I cut the flourish in half, then I inked with Yellow. THEN i put a woodgrain texture on it (using the MAY MAIN KIT STAMP! YIPPEE!) okay, so that wasn't nice.. but just think.. since you are a subscriber, you will get the woodgrain stamp in  your main kit! YEAH! :)

Then next I place the flower over it. Both looks are cute, one is a little more girly.. but I like them both :)

SO let's start the inside of the book. THIS is where the simple template format comes in. Basically for each page I used THREE strips of paper. Two that overlapped each other on the bottom, and one that went straight across the top. You can mix it up a bit by using different sizes of strips, or placing the smaller thinner strip on top, the the next time on the bottom. Also As you can see, I also alternated which side the picture was on, so that helped give interest to the page. But honestly if you follow this format of the three strips of paper for this album.. it will go SO fast and I promise it will turn out cute. Who says something fabulous has to take a long time? LOL

1. SO first step, but two strips of paper, one slightly shorter than the other and adhere to first page, making sure you are longer than the actual scallop paper.

2. Second step is to place your picture on top of the patterned papers.

3. Turn the paper around and cut the excess hanging papers and picture following the scalloped edges of the paper.

4. Then you end up with the same shape as your chipboard cover!

5. Next is to use the fun and versatile stamp in this month's kit! SO FUN! Basically on each page, I just overlapped the picture and the papers. I will use this space later to write some journaling about each of my child.

6. Next it to place letter stickers onto the page. I used them to spell Noah's name.. well we call him "Nova"..so I decided to use that name! LOL

7. Next step is to take your last strip of paper and place in directly in the middle of the top of the page. Make sure it overlaps the sides, so you can cut it to fit.

Then after you have cut around the scallops to keep the shape of the paper, then I used the fun numbers stamp to create a repeated border along the top. LOVE this stamp! I

8. The last step is to add the flower detail. I used one of the chipboard flowers and took the gem off the top and replaced it with a button.

Then you are done! Simple and fast huh?

1. So onto the next page! I have already started this one and gotten to the point with the picture and the stamp. But basically you can see that I used the same format as before, as far as the layers, just moved the picture to the other side.

2. For the top of this page, I used the red polka dot paper and use the star stamp along the top of it as a repeated boarder.

3. As you can see in this detail, I also used the "wonderful" rubons on the upper left hand corner of the page too.

4. I wanted to add some details to the lower page as well, using the rubons, so I used the bubbles rubons in two part. First par was along the side of the picture coming down.

5. Second part as overlapping the picture going along the bottom of the paper strips.

6. Last detail was to use one of the circle dotted rubons and overlap it onto the stamp. I then used one of the little gems included in your goody bag, as the center.

Now this page is complete!

For this page, I am just showing you the completed page. For the bottom of this page, we follow a similar pattern to Noah's page. I still think adding some buttons or gems or a rubons to it, will finish it off.. still playing around with this one.

the top of the page, I USED THE FABRIC! Yeah! when I saw this fabric i thought it was SO cute and would a lot of fun and texture to this album. So i just cut a strip of it and used it in place of paper on the top part of this page. As you can see, I also used the memories stamp as the boarder across the top of it.

Last step was to use one of the prima flowers with a button in the center to finish it off!

So simple.. but fun! I hope you enjoy!
