We Still Believe Ornament Project Kit

Christmas is finally here! I love this holiday, not only because what it celebrates, but because it is such a "vintage" holiday.. with traditions, stories and more. I love making handmade ornaments to give as gifts, but also to hang from the tree, garlands or even in between my stockings handing from our mantel (there is a picture of that below!). These are SUPER easy and fast to make. It only took me 30 minutes to make all three, plus you have tons of products left over to make more or create festive layouts with. I can't wait to see what you do with your kit.. please make sure you share it in the gallery!
I hope you all have a VERY Merry Christmas!  Hugs to you!

For the first ornament we use the Bingo card from Jenny Bowlin (each one is different so yours may say something different than Noel). We are also using the metal star for this one too.

The first step is easy! Simply use a pop dot to place the sticker from Creative Imaginations in the center of the Bingo Card. .

Next use a pin or something small to poke a hole into the top of the card. Cut a small piece of wire and thread it through the hole. Thread beads (or buttons) onto the wire, then make a loop at top to hang with.

Next I tied a small piece of cream ribbon in between the beads. .

Here we are almost finished!

The last step is the add glue all around the outside edge of the card, then sprinkle glitter onto the bingo card. I LOVE glitter for adding "bling" to projects. I would suggest adding a little bit to each of the ornament!

..

Next take your star and add glue down the middle and legs of each star.

Sprinkle glitter on top (don't worry.. you can always go back after, and take some of the "glue" glitter off.. as you will see I did in the next photo.

See.. I just took my finger and kinda smeared the glue/glitter out a bit.. to make it look more random. Then i tied a ribbon around one of the star points.

Next I glued a button over the ribbon and tied a piece of the snowflake garland around the ribbon. Last I put one of the grey corsage pins through the ribbons.

Next take a piece of wire and punch a hole in the bottom of the bingo card. Thread some beads (or bead) onto the wire and then thread onto the hole in the star. Curl around to close.

Now you are finished! Here are some up-close shots of this ornament.

For this next ornament, you are going to need to download the following PDF file and print it out onto your computer. This download is the pattern for the bird and the heart. You will be cutting two birds out of the red felt, and one heart out of the brown felt.

Please click on the link below, and it will take you to my blog, where you can download the file.

Bird and Heart Template/Pattern click here

So first step is to cut out the bird and heart from the paper you print out. Then trace it onto the felt and cut out two birds and one heart.

Next take one of your birds and place the heart on the side of the bird. Use the thread provided (and you will need to get an embroidery needle), and stitch the heart onto the bird. You could also just glue the heart on, but the thread is so cute! and it only takes minutes!

More pictures of the heart stitching..

Then simply turn it over and tie a knot when finished.. then clip the loose ends.

NEXT you are going to put the other bird piece under the first one and stitch BOTH pieces together using a whipstitch. If you aren't familiar with what a Whipstitch is, here is a website with great instructions. You can also view mine below.

Use your needle and go down by the edge, and come up from underneath, just centimeters apart (you don't want too much space between each stitch).  DON'T pull the thread all the way through.. leave the loop...

Next put your needle THROUGH the loop ( and then pull tight).

Keep repeating the step and it will create a whipstitch all the way around the outside edge of the bird, keeping the birds closed together.

Before you come to the end of the bird, stop about 1" before you do, so you have an opening to stuff the bird with.  As stated on the kits page, batting is not provided.. but it doesn't take much. You can also use soft toilet paper or tissue paper.. OR just leave it empty.. Once you have filled it with a bit of batting, simply finish the stitch off , the rest of the way, until you connect with the first stitch.. then tie a knot and you are done!

This is the finished bird!

Next I glued one of the snowflake charms to the side of the bird and then I tied a piece of ribbon around the little birdie's neck.

Next take the vintage Santa note card included in your kit, and use part of the crystal swirl from prima and place it onto the card.

Next place the deer sequin overlapping the crystal swirl.

As with the Bingo card, poke a small hole and thread some wire through the hole. Thread on beads or charms (i punched a small hole in the snowflake confetti and threaded the snowflake onto the wire). Then make a loop at top!

Next connect the Santa card with the bird, by poking a hole into the bottom of the card, and threading wire through. Add some beads, and buttons, and then place the bottom of the thread through the top of the bird, and tie closed. I also tied a bit of black ribbon between the buttons and beads.

Here is a picture of the finished project.. so FUN!

Our last ornament is using one of the chipboard shapes from Basic Grey and cutting one of the "note cards" from the die-cut journaling sheet from Cosmo Cricket.

Note: each person received various basic grey sheets. so your ornament shapes may be different than the one shown.  Also think about using one of the snowflakes or other shapes on your sheet!

Use adhesive and place it all over the ornament.

Next cut a piece of patterned paper (i used the tree paper from Pink Paisley) and place it right side UP over the ornament.

Cut out with scissor or an exacto knife around the ornament. Repeat with the back (so your ornament can be doubled sided).. note on the back it is self adhesive, so you won't have to use adhesive to cover the back of the chipboard.

Next cut a small piece of the black die-cut paper. I cut off one of the corners.

Place it onto the edge of the ornament.

Cut off access.

Next print a small picture (mine was about 1"x2") in size.. and back it with one of your patterned paper.

Adhere it onto the black paper.

Next use some more of the crystal swirls from Prima and add to the ornament. We will add more in a bit too..

Next I used one of the dimensional stickers from Making Memories and placed it by the picture and overlapping the swirls. I also used the mini alphabets from Adorn it and spelled the word Joy under the picture.

Here is where I added more crystals.. to the ornament.

and more! LOL.. love this for adding a little bling.

Next I used the "Jingle all the way" card for the top. Remember, there are two sides to each card AND you can choose whichever one fits you best!

I simply placed more bling (of course) onto the lower half of the card

Then placed a gold button over top. I actually cut the back off the button, so it would lay more flat, I just used wire cutter to cut it, because the buttons are plastic.

Then I poked a hole in the top, and threaded wire through as shown

Then added beads, buttons, etc.

Then poked a hole in the bottom, and threaded wire again.. with beads, and then wired it around the top of the ornament.

Then I tied a piece of the cream lace fabric (i cut the fabric in half) around the top of the ornament as well.

Now you are finished! Here are some up-close pictures of that ornament as well.

Then you are all finished!  I hung my ornaments in between my stocking on my mantel. They are fun also for gifts, the three, garlands and more! You have tons of extras to make many more with.. AND layouts as well!

This makes a cute personalized gift for someone too.. so get creative and share the joy this Holiday season!
