March Project kit

I love mini album, especially because they are doable and I can finish them in a day or two.  This is one I created for a recent Mexico trip we took in January. I have been meaning to get the pictures into a book, but wanted to keep it simple and fun. These 8x8 pages are perfect for just that!  Basically each page just consists of a few strips of paper and then a few simply embellishments (just the way I like it!). . Feel free to mix it up as you go along, but there are a few fun techniques we do, using the exclusive stamp in the kit plus the chipboard.. and the sponge/shelf liner fabric you got in your kits as well! Hope you enjoy!

In this album I show you how to make 4 layouts, step by step and also how to create a few  fun surprises as well! You will have plenty left over to create more pages too!

The only thing I used, NOT included in this kit was the following:

Cream cardstock (I used it as the background for all of my pages)

String

Writing Pen

Stapler

Ink

First step if to cut down your cream cardstock to 8x8" to fit your album (I started with 12x12).. but you could use 8x11, what ever.. but it needs to be cut down to 8x8 for all the pages. We are creating four. Now let's get started with the first page.

1. First cut, layer and adhere strips from  both the red and green patterned papers according to picture

2. Add your picture (it can be any size really, and both vertical or horizontal.

3. Cut a piece of cream ribbon and staple it onto your page according to picture.

4. The next step and our first technique is to use the exclusive stamp in this kit to add a little bit of "texture" to one of your chipboard butterflies. Simply ink the stamp and then apply the stamp to the butterfly. I made sure the the "notes" part was going to overlap the butterfly just a bit, so you could almost read what it was saying.

5. Then you are going to slightly bend the butterfly and adhere it with glue dots, overlapping the picture, papers and the ribbon.

6. Next add rubons touches to the upper right hand corner of your layout, where there is white space. I overlapped the picture just a bit.

7. add some journaling and then you are done!

This layout is just kind of funky but I like it. I still need to add my journaling below the picture. and I may actually add another flower up by the calendar as well, (it needs something huh? Now that I look at it from this point of view! LOL).. so do your own thing.. and get creative!

1. Cut strips from yellow and floral paper and layer according to picture.

2. Place picture onto page.

3. add rubons to bottom left hand corner of picture.

4. Adhere the cute little calendar tag to the page (LOVE THESE!!!)..

5. next add tags underneath for some journaling.

6. make sure you circle and month and date!

7. add a flower to the center of the rubons

It's done! Like i said before, you could actually add another flower, or maybe a few buttons up by the calendar tag, to create a "three" some on the flower/button thing..

But sometimes I just like things to be simple..

This layout is fun for me. When I saw this sponge shelf liner in the store, I just knew it would make the cutest little textured flowers!

Let's get started!

1. Cut strips of paper from the Butterfly, yellow and green paper and adhere to page (overlapping) according to picture.

2. Next add picture

3. Next cut 2 circles (one large, one small) from both the sponge strips and find one large buttons (or you could use a flower as well).

4. layer then on top of each other, using glue dots to hold in place.

5. place onto page, overlapping picture and papers. (if you are worried about being acid free, spray the flower with acid free spray before you have it touch the paper).

6. Next add a small journaling tag onto your page and journal

7. To finish this page off, simply add a title using the vinyl letter from American Crafts.

This is your final layout! Of course you will want to make more to finish your book and i will need to too! But I love how simply this can be, if you really want it to be.

1. Cut paper strips and layer according to paper (note: the orange dot is the backside of the floral paper).

2. add picture! :)

3. Use the stamp and stamp image overlapping the picture and the papers. Notice how mine is two toned? well that was actually a mistake.. but I like how it turned out afterwards! :)

4. Next add another one of those cute month tags, overlapping the stamp.

5. Next add the flower, overlapping both of those.

6. The final step is I place a small tag right underneath the flower, to add the pace and the year.

Then you are done! I like kind of simply stuff, but if you wanted to you could add rubons in a lot of places as well!

Your last step is to stamp both of the large tags you got in your kit, with the exclusive stamp. notice how it fits perfectly! I actually made it to fit! You can find these tags at most local office supply stores.. so it's great!

I wanted to have something external in my book, and since this book isn't three-ring bound, I had to come up with a creative way to attach them. So, I took a piece of string and first threaded it into the hole of the tag, then I looped it down and around the metal post of the album, then back up the other side and tied it! So the tag actually hangs "loose" in the album, and I plan to put some more journaling about my trip, throughout the book. I would suggest doing this on every page, so you have LOTS of journaling to share!

For the cover of my album, I just slipped in a piece of cream paper with the words (Mexico) on them) into the slot in the front cover. Then on the actual front of the album, I used the numbers 2008, and they fit perfectly inside the little square. then I adhered a flower over one of the 0. Very simple, but I like things that way!

Can't wait to see what you come up with and share your albums with me! Have a wonderful time creating! Hugs to you all!
